Rules For M&DDL for season 2010/2011
Constitution:The League shall be called “The Musselburgh & District Darts League”
Membership
1. Each team having membership of the League on annual affiliation fee of £20 will have one delegate who may speak or vote on behalf of his team at A.G.M. & Meetings.
2. New teams entering league are unable to vote at A.G.M.
3. The League and registered players will observe the Constitution, Rules & Bye-laws of Affiliated clubs.
4. Executive Committee will meet as often as is considered necessary by the Secretary and shall have full powers concerning goodwill of the League.
5. All cash to be banked under one signature.
6. Only delegates and Committee can vote at A.G.M. & Meetings, the Chairman shall have casting vote if a stalemate occurs.
Rules
Mobile Phones:All phones MUST be switched off or on silent mode during league games or competitions.
Registered Players: All participants should be registered with the M&DDL. Players must play for one team only within the League but may be registered with another League , provided it is played on another night than a Monday. Players cannot play in competitions on the Monday night during the M&DDL season when they are run on a league basis, be this singles, pairs, triples or fours etc. This does not exclude players playing in Open Competitions on a given Monday. All new players signed during the season must be registered with the secretary within seven days of signing date. Any players signing for more than one team shall automatically be suspended for one season and have a fine imposed. All promotion winning team players shall play in the “A” League for a minimum of one season. Players have the right of appeal.
Appeals: A deposit of £10 will be deposited with appeals and refunded if appeal upheld.
Registration Fee: The Registration Fee per player shall be £1. Teams must submit a list of registered players to the Secretary prior to the commencement of darts season.
The Game: Result of League Matches to be decide on eight singles ( each game consisting of double start, double finish 501), four pairs ( double start, double finish 701). Both team captains will pick their eight singles and hand to their opposite number to put down on the sheet, then the four pairs shall follow the same procedure. All players must be present at start of game, to compete. Teams to consist of eight players, six being the lowest number who may contest the game as a team. Any team failing to have the necessary number of players shall be deemed to have lost the game by default and have three points awarded to their opponents, with a 12-0 result carded. Teams who do not have the necessary eight players should complete the result sheet with the names of the players available to play, so that in the event of a team being expelled or withdrawing from the League, players who are deemed not available will be banned from playing in the League for the following season.
Practice: All players will have six darts practice before playing in League games or competitions.
League Fours:Shall take place prior to the League Match and shall consist of two games of 1001, double start and finish, each Captain shall pick their fours and hand them to the opposite number to put on the sheet. Any team not having the necessary four players shall forfeit the points for games not played.
Transfers; A player may be transferred to another team on application to the League Secretary. A player will be eligible to transfer up until the turn of the season. The two team captains concerned must be in agreement with the transfer. A player may only transfer within his own League. A to A and B to B. The committee has the last decision on transfers. The fee is £10 per transfer. Players during the season who wish to leave the league to play in another on Mondays, shall put letter in to the League Secretary, any who do not and play in another league shall be suspended for at least one season and fined.
Marker & Checker:The Home Team shall provide marker and the Visiting Team shall provide a checker. Checker will announce score after third dart is thrown. No player, whilst throwing, may be told of the score or what is left for game unless he asks the checker. Only darts withdrawn from the board will count. The Marker or Checker may amend any mistakes to the player’s score before the game has finished. The Marker or Checker will not amend any mistakes once the player has checked out the remaining score on the board.
The Board:Games are to be played on a Standard Board approved by the Executive Committee. The board must be hung 5 feet 8 inches from the centre of the bull to the floor, and shall have a 9 feet 7 inches diagonal distance from the centre of the bull to the rear of the oche and a plumb line from the front edge of the board to the floor, then to the rear of the oche at a distance of 7 feet 9 ¼ inches, both measurements should meet at the rear of the oche. The oche should not be less than 3 feet long and measure approximately 1 inch in height. It must be firmly fixed in position during the course or the game and must be toed and not stood on when playing.
League:League will, depending on number of teams, consist of an “A” league and “B” league. There will only be one set of competitions if there are two leagues.
League Games:League & League Cup games are played for points only and gambling in any form is strictly forbidden. Three points are awarded for a win and one for a draw. Teams failing to turn up for a game will be fined £10. Any team missing three games during the season shall be expelled from the League. Any team being expelled from the League shall have all points won or lost deleted and all results will be deleted from League tables, this may result in changes of positions in league tables. Any players in teams expelled will allowed to participate in any competition at the discretion of the Executive Committee.
Competitions:All competitions shall be £2.00 per person, except Honestas and League Cup, which are £20 per team.One toss of the coin, winner plays first, third and fifth legs, etc. Losers will mark the board during competitions ( or get a volunteer to do so ) , anyone not complying with this rule shall be fined £10.
Results:The home team representative are asked to forward result by phone to the Secretary, to update League tables, then send sheets or e-mail in to secretary for confirmation of any 180’s scored, least darts, highest checkout or least League fours, by the Friday following the matches, any team failing to send in sheets on time will be fined £10. Any 180’s scored, least darts, highest checkout or least League fours will not be recognised unless on League result sheets.
Time of Games: Fours will start at 8:00pm, any team failing to toe the oche by 8:10 their opponents may claim the points. League games shall commence once the result of the Fours has been reached.
Trophies: All trophies will be returned to League Committee at date decided by the Committee, this must be strictly adhered to. Secretary to inform winners of handing in date beforehand.
Finals Venues: All bids for finals shall be by sealed bids, which should be in the hand of the Secretary BEFORE the commencement of A.G.M. New teams are unable to bid for finals.
Competition Formats:
1. League Singles; Best of 5 legs 501 double start and double finish, best of 7 legs in final.
2. League Pairs; Best of 5 legs 701 double start , double finish.
3. Triples; Best of 5 legs, consisting of 1 Triple of 1001, 1 Double of 701, and 3 legs of Singles 501, all double start and double finish.
4. Peter Rodger’s Fours; Best of 5 legs1001
5. Ian Ferguson Fours; Consisting of 4 singles of 501, 2 pairs of 701 and if score tied at 3-3, a single leg of 1001. All starting and finishing on a double.
6. Highest Checkout; Applies in all competitions.
7. Least Darts; Applies in all competitions. |
