Best three grouped bowls played on the day by John Gemmell.

                                  Wheatley Trophy 21/08/10 at Eskmills

 Despite an apathetic response to the request for players from the bowlers in the club, nine hardy individuals went across to play for the Wheatley Trophy at Eskmills. Having only nine players, Inveresk started off one rink short, so we were at a disadvantage straight away, by having to lose one rink. The other three rinks though fought out two victories out of three, to finish runners-up to Eskmills.

 Brian Russell's rink of John Gemmell & Jackie Stewart found themselves up against a strong Eskmills team and struggled on an awkward rink, going down to a 5-25 loss. Jamie Mitchell's rink consisted of the two youngsters, Johnny Brown & Kevin Veitch, quickly found themselves 2-5 down but turned the game around and finished up worthy 21-10 victors. Bert Falconer's rink of Mike Burgess & Dougie Sheridan lost the first end but then took command of the match with a 1, 1, and a six to go into an 8-1 lead. Eskmills took a one at the next end but Bert's rink scored a one at each end for the next five ends to go into a 13-4 lead.Eskmills then took a spurt of scoring, bringing them to 10-13 at the last end, however Inveresk took the shot in the last end to win the match 14-10.

Eskmills finished up with 3 wins out of 4 and 6 points, Inveresk won 2 out of 4 to have 4 points and Niddrie won 1 out of 4 to finish with 2 points.
