Inveresk’s Top Ten Adventure Ends At Pathhead.
Inveresk’s run in this year’s Top Ten was halted by the more experienced Danderhall team at Pathhead on Tuesday night.
In the singles, the normally resilient Mark Yuill seemed a little overwhelmed by his opponent, David Peacock and went down to his first defeat in the competition, 21-6.
The pairs team of Jamie Mitchell senior & junior, played well against the other Peacock, Billy and his partner and the game only went Danderhall’s way at the latter end of the match when they finished an end early at 15-8
The Triples of Ross Marwick, James Kay & Brian Burnside, went the same way as the pairs, as the game was even all the way until the 12th end when a 4 took Danderhall into a winning lead they never relinquished
The same again, could be said of the rink, Alex Turnbull, Willie Fowler, Stuart Boyle & Jim Keir, as they were in the hunt until the last few ends, where the game turned Danderhall’s way.
There was no embarassment in this 4-0 defeat to Danderhall as, all in all, the defeats were only by four or five shots, with the exception of the singles. It showed that Inveresk could play alongside the first division big boys, as it was only in the last third of the game where Danderhall pulled away, but it shows where the aspirations of the club should be aiming for.
